Thanks to the generous support o f Daigle Oil Company and the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the Fort Kent Public Library enjoyed a visit for Bess the Book Bus. Over 80 kids stopped by the library in just a short two-hour period, and each young reader was able to pick out a book from many popular titles. The non-profit promotes literacy and narrows the academic achievement gap. Book Bus founder Jennifer Frances said the turnout this year was higher than last year. The excitement of the kids was worth the wait since Fort Kent saw Bess since her last visit a year ago. Books are a necessity for growth and development of reading skills. Library Director Andrew Birden said, "One of my favorite days of the year is when Bess the Book Bus comes to town."
